This study aims at calculating the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a composite ferrule to ensure the compliance with a frequency criterion.

The modelling and calculations were performed with NX Nastran.

The structure consists of an aluminium casing, a NIDA Nomex and a carbon layer.

Here, used elements are solids like hexahedrons and shells.

The orthotropic characteristics of the materials are considered in the calculation model, as well as the plyangles, via a property card dedicated to the layered composite (Nastran PCOMP card).
