Context
Investigate the influence of reinforcements on a bottle of constant thickness by varying their number and geometric dimensions. The aim is to observe a significant gain in the calculated stresses while verifying a slight change in the total mass of the assembly.
Results
- Finite element modelling of one eighth of the different types of bottle to be studied (implementation of symmetry planes). The number of ribs changes for each model;
- Parameterisation of the geometric dimensions of the ribs (height and thickness) for the different models;
- Creation of an experimental design to automatically change the geometric parameters of the ribs according to the customer’s data;
- Application of the internal pressure in the cylinders (identical for the different models);
- Verification of the mechanical strength of the cylinders according to CODAP, which sets out stress admissibility rules for pressurised equipment;
- Observation of the gain in maximum stress calculated in relation to the increase in the total mass of the assembly.
